Automated SEO Blog Posts for Gatsby
Gatsby sites build post pages from a folder of Markdown or MDX through gatsby-source-filesystem and createPages. Blogger Dog writes into that folder, so your existing GraphQL query and template pick posts up on the next build.
What Blogger Dog writes
A .md or .mdx file with YAML frontmatter (title, date, description, tags, slug).

## Why builds got slow
...How publishing works
- 01
Connect the repo
Sign in with GitHub or GitLab (OAuth) and choose the repository and branch your site builds from.
- 02
Point it at your posts folder
Onboarding proposes the folder your existing posts live in. Gatsby has no automatic route install, so your createPages code must already build pages from that folder (most starters do).
- 03
Prove it is live
Before the first scheduled post, Blogger Dog commits a temporary test post, waits for your host to rebuild, and checks that the public URL actually serves it. It then deletes the test post. Scheduled posts are checked the same way after every commit, so a post that was committed but never appeared is reported instead of silently counted as published.
Good to know
- If your template queries a frontmatter field Blogger Dog does not write (for example a required featured image), make it optional first.
Gatsby questions
- Which folder should Gatsby posts go into?
- The folder gatsby-source-filesystem already reads for your posts, usually content/blog, content/posts or src/content/blog. Onboarding proposes it and you confirm it.
- Will my GraphQL query break on the new posts?
- Only if it requires a frontmatter field Blogger Dog does not write. Posts have title, date, description, tags and slug; make anything else, such as a featured image, optional in your query or template.
- Does Blogger Dog create Gatsby pages for me?
- No. Gatsby has no automatic route install, so your createPages code must already build pages from that folder. Most blog starters do.
