Automated SEO Blog Posts for Hugo
Hugo reads Markdown with front matter from a section of the content directory. Blogger Dog writes posts straight into that section, so your theme's list and single templates render them with no extra wiring.
What Blogger Dog writes
A .md file with YAML front matter (title, date, description, tags, slug).
- Detected from
- hugo.toml / hugo.yaml
- config.toml / config.yaml at the repo root
- Typical destination
- content/posts
- content/blog
- content/articles
content/posts/cut-build-time-in-half.md

date: "2026-10-15"
description: "A step-by-step look at caching, parallel jobs and what didn't work."

## Why builds got slow
...How publishing works
- 01
Connect the repo
Sign in with GitHub or GitLab (OAuth) and choose the repository and branch Hugo builds from.
- 02
Confirm the section
Onboarding detects Hugo and proposes the content section that already holds posts. Hugo's own templates render it, so no route code is added.
- 03
Mind drafts and future dates
Posts are written without draft: true and are dated the day they are committed, so a normal hugo build publishes them. The slug field sets the URL if your permalinks use :slug.
- 04
Prove it is live
Before the first scheduled post, Blogger Dog commits a temporary test post, waits for your host to rebuild, and checks that the public URL actually serves it. It then deletes the test post. Scheduled posts are checked the same way after every commit, so a post that was committed but never appeared is reported instead of silently counted as published.
Good to know
- Tags are written as a YAML list, which Hugo maps to the tags taxonomy by default.
Hugo questions
- Which Hugo section do posts go into?
- The section that already holds your posts, usually content/posts, content/blog or content/articles. Onboarding proposes it and your theme's list and single templates render the posts.
- Will Hugo publish the posts or treat them as drafts?
- Posts are written without draft: true and are dated the day they are committed, so a normal hugo build publishes them. If your permalinks use :slug, the slug field in the front matter sets the URL.
- Do I need to change my theme?
- No. Posts are plain Markdown with YAML front matter (title, date, description, tags, slug), which Hugo themes render out of the box. Tags map to Hugo's default tags taxonomy.
